The Thirst Project is a non-profit organization in America which aims to bring safe drinking water to communities around the world. became loosely aware of the global water crisis in the summer of 2007 through a friend who had recently returned from a humanitarian service trip to Uganda. Almost 1 Billion on our planet don’t have access to safe, clean drinking water and proper sanitization. That’s one in every eight of us. 4,100 children die every day from diseases caused by contaminated water. All we have to do is reach the water that already exists in aquifers usually only 100-300 feet underground. The cost to build a freshwater well in the developing nations will cost in ranges from between $7,800 in Uganda, to $20,000 in Kenya.
In just five years, they’ve raised over $8 Million with this program and funded projects to provide over 300,000 people with safe, clean water. I think I can help by sharing this story or them going to other schools or sharing they stories with other people in other countries. I can raise my dollar by giving it to someone that can take it and donate it to them maybe it won’t be much but it can help. I felt really bad because they have to drink dirty water and looking at other people wasting they water knowing others need It more than us. Tiny worms and bacteria live in water naturally. Most of the bacteria are pretty harmless. But some of them can cause devastating disease in humans, and since they can't be seen, they can't be avoided. Every glass of dirty water is a potential killer.
In conclusion I’ve never experienced something like this but I think I wouldn’t like to be looking for dirty water and have to be drinking that to be able to survive. Many people believe that they keeping the money but they can ask any person of that program or look it up to see where the money goes to. I feel good I don’t regret donating a dollar because its not just a dollar your helping someone that really needs it. Also it wont hurt you to donate a dollar its just one or two of them they need it more than us since they have no clean water and we do.
